How To Install Active Directory on Windows Server 2008
In my previous post I described some New features of windows server 2008 active directory. Active Directory is the database of your User Groups, Services
and Resources. It means Active
Directory is the Centralize collection of User
Groups, Services and Resources and they are known as Objects in Active Directory.
Active Directory provides the structure to centralize the
network and store information about network resources across the entire domain.
Active
Directory uses Domain Controllers to keep this centralized
storage
available to network users.
STEP 1
STEP 2
After
checking Domain Services, the Ad Installation Wizard window will
display, just click NEXT
After this Operating System Compatibility option will open,
again click NEXT.
STEP 3
Then after, Deployment
Configuration window will open. You will get two options
A) Existing Forest B) New Domain
You have to select option (B) and click NEXT
STEP 4
Now
Fully
Qualified Domain Name window will open. Write your desired domain Name
like example.net.com
and click NEXT.
STEP 5
Now Forest Fictional Level prompt will open. If you are using Windows Server 2000 then select Server 2003 Forest and if you are using Windows Server 2003 then upgrade to Server 2008 Forest Functional Level.
STEP 6
It
is mandatory to install DNS in Additional Domain Controller option.
Beside this it is also mandatory to check and role the Global Catalog option because it is very compulsory to check DNS,
rodc and Global Catalog options in Active Directory. After this, a
massage will show just click NEXt.
STEP 7
In Database
location windows, files and path option will appear in which log and sysvol
files are available. Just click NEXT.
After
this, password prompt will open. It is mandatory to write and confirm your
password.
NOTE: There is complexity policy
for password. So you should use special characters and alphabets and click Next .
STEP 8
Now
a summery will open, you have to save export settings and made a Script which you can use everywhere and
you will be able to restart your Active Directory.
Now
install Group Policies, Configuration
and other consoles. Tick mark the restart
option then your server will reboot. After reboot you can work on your
installed Active Directory.
That’s all information you need to install your Active Directory
in Windows Server 2008.
